In the Name of Love, a powerful celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s vision and legacy through the ft. the music of Sly & The Family Stone. Living Jazz presents Oakland’s largest civic and cultural event, returning to the historic Paramount Theatre for its 22nd anniversary on January 17, 2026.
Experience an unforgettable evening celebrating the music of the Bay’s very own Sly & The Family Stone. This inclusive event brings together some of the Bay Area’s most acclaimed artists, led by Music Director Kev Choice and hosted by RyanNicole, with powerhouse performances by Martin Luther McCoy, Silk E, August Lee Stevens, Black London, Awesöme Orchestra Collective, original Sly & The Family Stone bassist Rustee Allen, and many more. Adding to the magic, the stage will also shine with the next generation from the Living Jazz RootED Choir lead by Bryan Dyer and Oaktown Jazz Workshops.
Last year's event was a soul-nourishing tribute to Oakland's artistic community, and this year promises to be even more unforgettable. Respect the legacy and witness the rising talent of the Bay Area as we come together in celebration. Hosted by RyanNicole, this is an evening you won't want to miss!
